The program will pair adoptable canines with area prisoners form the Kinross Correctional Facility, who will learn empathy, patience and respect while teaching the dogs basic skills, thereby increasing their chances of finding forever homes. Initially 4 dogs will participate in the program with two prisoners assigned to each dog. We anticipate the dogs to remain in the program approximately 12 weeks. All dogs will be evaluated to insure they are good candidates, and once approved, will live the inmates 24/7 for the duration of the 12-week program. After the program is complete, the dogs will undergo evaluations to track their progress.
Weekly Progress Reports for the dogs in the program can be seen on the Dogs Page.
